The film industry in Uganda is steadily becoming a major entertainment attraction across the globe. pearl international festival is a non-profitable organization that emerged to majorly start from the best of our own local movies popularly known as Bina-Uganda, committed to present to the world the best of screen storytelling and very keen on realizing new talent catalyzing the growing industry.
The inaugural edition of PIFF that happened from the 5-8 May, 2011 at the National theatre, Kampala saw the venue record break of hundreds of movie fans storming the theatre in the four days programme that included film screenings, exhibition, presentations from various stake holders, and the unforgettable award night.
The festival also aims to draw attention to and raise the profile of films with the aim of contributing towards the development of cinema, boosting the film industry worldwide and celebrating Ugandan cinema at currently at the national level.
Though PIFF is originally indigenous, extra spanking and ready to explore to depth the products and efforts of film makers in Uganda, we greatly still look forward to have international films take part in the next year’s edition.
Just as the name rhymes, PIFF is originally indigenous fresh and ready to explore to depth the products and efforts of all film makers all round.
